When Ruma joined Sonnet a few years ago, she was keen to share her work as a Family Leader at Holland Bloorview with her new colleagues.
“My son was a client at Holland Bloorview for a long time,” says Ruma. “He was an inpatient—he was there for school and for appointments—so I always say that Holland Bloorview is my home away from home. I’m just blown away by the empathy from everybody there who always has a smile or a kind word.”
Over the past few years, Sonnet has generously supported Holland Bloorview in many ways— even donating tickets to sports games to families in the community. But, Ruma knew that she and her colleagues could support Holland Bloorview even more by participating in Capes for Kids this year.
“Capes for Kids is so important because it puts kids with disabilities front and centre and does it in a fun way,” says Ruma.
And the team at Sonnet already has some fun ideas for fundraising. Using the Capes for Kids “Events-in-a-Box,” they are planning a virtual trivia night where all proceeds go to Holland Bloorview.
It’s a fun way to engage our employees and create some buzz about the work at Holland Bloorview,” says Ruma.
“We can join together to amplify our powers for kids with disabilities
