Do I have to raise a minimum amount to participate?

No. There is no fundraising minimum. But you’d be surprised how people will support you when they understand why you’re wearing a cape, and where their money will go.

We encourage everyone to make a self-donation to help kick start their fundraising. To help you reach your own goal, make sure you check out our fundraising tips and tricks that will help you ask colleagues and friends to donate.

How will the donations be used?

All money raised through Capes for Kids supports Holland Bloorview’s innovative programs and services and cutting-edge research that help kids with disabilities move, speak, play, learn and grow. You can find out more about your impact here.

What do I do with the money I have collected offline?

You can enter them in through the ‘Cash and cheque’ section from within your personal fundraising page. You will then have the opportunity to pay for those donations using your own credit card. Once you have paid for those donations, tax receipts will automatically be issued to the donor based on the email address you provided from them (note: tax receipts are only generated for donations above $10). If the donor does not have an email address, you can enter in your own email address and then print off the tax receipt and provide it to the donor.

What is my Personal Fundraising Page?

On your Personal Fundraising Page you can customize content and images, find sample emails that you can send to family, friends and co-workers asking for a donation, track who is supporting your mission, and follow up with a thank you or reminder to donate. Not sure you’ve got it right? Contact us and we’ll help!

If I import my friends and families’ information online to send an email, will Holland Bloorview Foundation be able to contact these people?

Your privacy is important to us. Staff or volunteers cannot view or access your online information. Your information is confidential and is only accessible by entering your personal username and password, to which the Foundation does not have access. If your friends or family make a donation to you, they will have the option of deciding what level of contact they would like to receive from the Foundation.
