About Capes for Kids
Capes for Kids is a fun, family friendly event where we encourage everyone to wear their cape and raise money to support kids with disabilities at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital.
Register online, set a fundraising goal and decide what your action will be (i.e. if I raise $250, I will wear my cape out to dinner) and then start fundraising. Then, wear your cape March 1-7, 2021 and share your photo using the hashtag #CapesForKids.
You can make a cape from anything! A bed sheet, a blanket, even a towel.
OR you can earn a cape from Holland Bloorview. A limited number of branded capes are available for fundraisers after they raise their first $100 ($50 for child participants). New this year, teams earn one cape for every $100 they collectively raise. For example, if a team raises $500 they can redeem five capes, regardless of how much each individual on the team fundraises.
PenguinPickUp is partnering with Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation to provide off-site cape pick up services to all Capes for Kids fundraisers. Cape pick up at PenguinPickUp is always free! You can visit one of the many locations in the GTA to pick up your cape.

Wherever you want! To the mall, the movies, dinner with your family, lunch with colleagues, a meeting with your boss! The more places you commit to wearing your cape, the more your friends and family will support your fundraising efforts.
Either way is great! Registration for Holland Bloorview’s Capes for Kids is for both individuals and teams to participate.
You may register as an individual, create your own fundraising team or join an existing fundraising team. Registration takes 5 minutes, and when you’re done, you’ll have your own personal fundraising page and link that you can send to your network and community. Registration for the 2021 event will open this summer!
You can register a team online! The first person that registers their team is automatically the Team Captain. Be creative and give your team a unique name. After you’ve registered online, you can use our email invitations to ask your family, friends and co-workers to join your team.
After registering yourself, you can register other team members. Please note that if you want your team members to be able to use our online fundraising tools, you need to provide a unique email address for each member.
Yes. If the team you want to join is registered online, you can join that team now. You can search for the team you wish to join by entering part or the entire team name.
Most likely, it means another team has already registered that name. Team names are assigned on a first come, first served basis.
No. There is no fundraising minimum. But you’d be surprised how people will support you when they understand why you’re wearing a cape, and where their money will go.

On your Personal Fundraising Page you can customize content and images, find sample emails that you can send to family, friends and co-workers asking for a donation, track who is supporting your mission, and follow up with a thank you or reminder to donate.
